Invoices issued by Stripe
Last updated 3 November 2026
Let Stripe issue the invoice for every sale in your name: right after the buyer pays, Stripe creates the invoice and emails it to the buyer. You don't have to do anything per order.
How it works
- The buyer pays an order (or one payment of an order paid in several parts).
- Stripe creates an invoice from you to the buyer, numbered in your own invoice sequence in your Stripe account.
- The buyer receives it by email as a PDF, and it is linked from the order on Martiqo.
What the invoice shows
- You: your business name and address from your Stripe account, and your VAT number when you are VAT registered.
- The buyer: name, address and — for businesses — VAT number, taken from the buyer's invoicing details on Martiqo.
- The sale: the items, prices before VAT, the VAT rate and amount (or the reverse-charge note), the total, and the Martiqo order number.
- For orders paid in several parts, each payment gets its own invoice.
Turn it on
- Complete Stripe onboarding for your shop (shop page → Payments).
- On your shop page open Invoicing & VAT, choose Stripe issues invoices for me and save.
- It applies to payments made from then on. You can switch back to issuing invoices yourself at any time.
What it costs
Stripe charges 0.4% of each paid invoice, at most €2.00 per invoice. Example: on an €80.00 order, €0.32.
Martiqo collects this Stripe charge together with its platform fee and passes it to Stripe at cost. It is shown to you as a Stripe fee — your Martiqo platform fee itself does not change. If you are VAT registered, the VAT calculation cost applies as well — see VAT on your sales.
Good to know
- You remain the seller. The invoice is yours; keep it in your accounting like any other sales invoice.
- Refunds. Credit notes are not issued automatically yet. If you refund an order, record the correction in your accounting.
- Invoicing outside Martiqo. If you also issue invoices in your own accounting software, make sure you don't invoice the same sale twice.
